Medical Team
Markus Rühli, MD
Specialist FMH/SIWF in Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology
Certified title Spinal Surgery (SGNC und SO)
Doctor Rühli, MD founded the Spine & Pain Clinic Zurich (WSC) 18 years ago, the first private specialist group in Switzerland in which orthopaedic spine surgeons, neurosurgical spine surgeons and anaesthesiological pain specialists work together in a joint practice and treat only spine patients.
Doctor Rühli himself has been treating only spinal patients for over 25 years. Accordingly, he has a huge amount of experience with tens of thousands of consultations and several thousand patients operated on. In addition, he has been asked for countless lectures, articles and television programmes over all these years (see publishing activities below).
He recognised early on that subspecialisation is necessary, especially in the case of the often complex spinal problems, and deepened his specialist knowledge accordingly.
His special interest is the treatment and operation of narrow spinal canal (spinal stenosis) and disc hernias (herniated discs) but also the performance of vertebral stabilisation (spondylodesis) and the cementing of osteoporotic vertebral fractures. Minimally invasive modern surgical methods (microsurgery or percutaneous) are also used as far as possible.
Doctor Rühli attaches great importance to intensive personal discussions with the patient, so that the best individual solution can be found for each spinal problem.
In this way he has been able to establish his reputation of not simply operating on every patient. His goal is to operate in a more targeted way through an exact diagnosis and thus achieve the best possible results.
